About
Air Supply is coming to Dubai
For nearly five decades, Air Supply has stood as one of the world’s most iconic and enduring soft rock duos. Formed in 1975 in Australia by Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock, the band first met while performing in the chorus of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. What began as a chance meeting quickly grew into a musical partnership that would go on to define an entire era of romantic ballads and heartfelt soft rock classics.
Air Supply became international superstars in the late 1970s and 1980s, captivating audiences with their soaring harmonies and timeless love songs. Their breakthrough came with the album Lost in Love (1980), which produced a string of worldwide hits including “Lost in Love,” “All Out of Love,” “Every Woman in the World,” “The One That You Love,” and “Here I Am.” Each of these singles climbed into the Top Five on the U.S. Billboard charts, making Air Supply a household name and cementing their place alongside legendary bands like The Beatles in terms of consecutive chart-topping success.
Over the years, the duo has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide across their early releases and Greatest Hits collections. They recorded some of the most played songs in radio history, including “Sweet Dreams” and Jim Steinman’s epic “Making Love Out of Nothing at All.” On stage, their legacy is equally remarkable, having performed over 5,500 concerts across the globe, averaging 130 shows annually. They also made history as the first Western group to tour China and set records with landmark performances, such as their concert for 175,000 fans in Cuba.
Air Supply’s music is instantly recognizable for its emotional depth, sweeping melodies, and the unique vocal blend of Russell Hitchcock’s soaring tenor and Graham Russell’s heartfelt songwriting. Their style defined the soft rock and power ballad movement of the 1980s, and their songs remain cultural touchstones that continue to resonate with fans of all ages. With an illustrious career spanning nearly 50 years, the duo has remained a constant presence on the touring circuit, playing sold-out shows on almost every continent. Their legacy is not only built on their massive commercial success but also on the genuine connection they have fostered with audiences around the world.
As Air Supply marks their 50th anniversary, the celebrations bring both a reflection on their storied past and a glimpse into the future. Upcoming milestones include a biopic film, All Out of Love: The Air Supply Story, a Broadway musical, Lost in Love, and their official autobiography. Fans can also look forward to a special vinyl compilation of their greatest hits and the release of their 18th studio album, A Matter of Time. Entering this milestone chapter, Air Supply continues to inspire fans worldwide with their timeless songs, unforgettable live performances, and a musical legacy that has shaped generations of soft rock enthusiasts.
